CURRY'S AUTO SERVICE AND JLOWE RACING TEAM UP FOR 2008 24 HOURS AT DAYTONA!

Daytona Beach, FL  - Curry’s Auto Service, Inc. recently teamed up with the Grand Am Rolex team of JLowe Racing for the 2008 Grand Am Rolex 24 Hour Endurance Race at Dayton Florida. With help from The Racer’s Group and Curry’s Auto, the JLowe racing team was able to finish a successful 4th place in the competitive GT class in only its second outing at the Rolex 24, having placed 11th the season before. The team competed in GT class in a 2007 Porsche 997 GT3 Rolex Cup Car for the second straight year at Daytona.

Curry’s owner Matt Curry, Vice President of Operations Chris Coulter and staff members Andrew Gunn, Vernon Abel, and Jon Kofod were on hand to watch the number #64 JLowe Racing Porsche GT3 take the checkered flag after 24 hours of hard fought racing. The JLowe Racing Porsche endured a tough practice and qualifying session prior to the race having to change out the gearbox and starting toward the back of the Rolex 24 field. Team owner Jim Lowe joined pro drivers Tim Sudgen, Jim Pace, and RJ Valentine in steadily moving the #64 Porsche through the field to 4th place around 8 pm Saturday evening. Then shortly thereafter the #64 was involved in an incident with one of the Mastercar Ferrari 430GT’s which necessitated a lengthy pit stop to install a new rear wing and remove damaged body panels at the rear of the car.

The team dropped over eight laps in the pits and came out at the tail end of the field in GT class but was able to make up all but two of those laps in getting back to 4th place, just missing out on a podium in only their second Rolex 24 Hour race.

Curry’s owner Matt Curry of Curry’s Auto Service Inc. remarked “...it was a great race to watch and we are proud to have played a small part in JLowe Racing’s effort here at Daytona in helping them achieve such a hard fought result in only their second year.”
