WHY CURRY'S...
Curry’s Center of Operations:
Chris Coulter graduated from Longwood College with a degree in Economics and Business Management and is part-owner and Vice President of Operations of Curry’s. Chris started with Curry's in 2000 and has over 20 years experience in the auto industry. He is a hands-on owner and it's not uncommon to find him at all four Curry's locations on any given day. In addition to his store duties, Chris is one of many track fanatics and has a 1988 BMW M5 Club Racer which he often campaigns at Summit Point Raceway. He is also very active with the local clubs and serves as a driving instructor for the BMWCCA, Audi Club, Corvette Club and the Mercedes Club just to name a few. In addition, Chris has been a guest speaker for BMWCCA, AAPEX, and other organizations including the 2005 SEMA Auto show in Las Vegas. When not coaching his children’s soccer team, he is an avid cyclist and water-skier in the warmer months, and enjoys snow skiing in the winter.
Judy Curry is the Vice President of Marketing and Advertising and has a Business Management degree from George Mason University. When she and Matt opened up the first shop in Chantilly in 1998, Judy was initially responsible for maintaining the books, paperwork, payroll, and a variety of other vital administrative functions needed to keep the business going. In this regard, Judy had to draw upon all facets of her eight years experience in the telecommunications industry as a project manager. Three shops and two kids later, she has since relegated those duties to two capable colleagues. But instead of resting on the laurels of Curry’s success, she has undertaken responsibility for marketing, advertising and planning all of Curry's professional, local club and community commitments. What little time Judy has left over is first devoted to her family. She also enjoys doing anything creative like decorating the house (especially. painting) or making scrapbooks, as well as exercising.
Karen Curry is our controller and has an associate’s degree in Business Administration from the Northern Virginia Community College. With the addition of our Dulles store in 2001, came the need for additional accounting staff. Karen joined Curry’s in the fall of that year to meet that need. She came to us with ten years of accounting experience in landscape contracting, telecommunications and laboratory services, followed by ten additional years as the sole proprietor of her own bookkeeping practice serving a variety of clients. Competence and professionalism best characterize Karen. When not performing the duties of controller, Karen enjoys spending her time with her family. Karen also received an Outstanding Dedication Award in 2004.
Susan Varela had 25+ years experience in the accounting field before joining the Curry’s family as its accountant in 2005. She held a number of accounting positions at various levels in the retail, manufacturing, and research fields and was most recently the accounting manager for a very large area home builder. Susan fulfilled her longtime goal in 1997 when she completed college and received a degree in Accounting and Business Management from Strayer University – this was no easy task since she was also working full time and raising two children. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, working out at her local gym, and spending time with her family.
